Product ♥︎ Engineering: What makes or breaks great Product × Engineering work in the age of AI?

# ELC Local Chapters

A conversation with Amrita Banerjee and George Salakirov about how Product and Engineering work together, and where things break down.

Amrita was Group PM at Uber, then moved through Secfi and Personio. She's now Director of Product Management at Super.

George was at Uber from 2014 to 2020, where he led Payments engineering and helped build the Amsterdam office. After Flexport and Nium, he's now Sr. Director of Engineering at WeTravel.

Their paths crossed at Uber Amsterdam in Payments. Since then, both have led product and engineering teams through the kinds of partnership dynamics this conversation is about.

We'll cover patterns that hold up well: shared ownership, joint discovery, communication rituals that don't waste calendar time. And we'll dig into the antipatterns most teams keep running into: the feature factory, specs thrown over the wall, tech debt nobody gets around to paying off.

AI comes up throughout. We're treating it as part of the conversation rather than a separate topic.

Bring your counterpart, the person you ship with. If you're a PM, bring your EM. If you're an EM, bring your PM. The discussions afterwards are usually the best part.
