LA - What Does Leveling Up Engineering Look Like Now?
Most engineering leaders already know the established playbook: fast feedback, strong ownership, automated delivery, useful observability, and continuous improvement. But with AI changing how software is designed, built, reviewed, and maintained, are the same practices still enough?
Some fundamentals may matter more than ever. Others may need to evolve. AI may also change how quickly teams can adopt better practices, while introducing new risks, skill gaps, and opportunities for uneven adoption across an organization.
This session is about how engineering leaders are leveling up their organizations now.
How are leaders evangelizing better engineering practices without creating resistance? What still works? What needs to change? How has AI affected the practices teams prioritize or the way those practices are introduced? Who owns these efforts, and how do they turn isolated improvements into lasting organizational capability?
Some leaders use communities of practice, internal champions, coaching, standards, or structured improvement programs. Others focus on incentives, visibility, experimentation, and giving teams the space to learn. We want to compare what is gaining traction, what has stalled, and how leaders know their organizations are actually improving.
Bring what is working, what is not, and what you are still figuring out. The goal is to challenge assumptions and leave with practical ideas for leveling up engineering organizations in a rapidly changing environment.
