ELC NYC Roundtables: Smarter Engineering Leadership in an AI-Accelerated World
AI coding tools promised faster delivery, and they're delivering. But the leaders pulling ahead aren't just the ones shipping fastest; they're the ones who've figured out how to sustain that speed without the wheels coming off.
That means rethinking what ownership looks like when AI is a contributor, what good review practice looks like at higher code volume, how institutional knowledge survives when intent isn't always written down, and how engineering leaders hold a coherent technical vision when product pressure is relentless.
This roundtable is structured around four themes drawn from real conversations with engineering leaders navigating what it means to build well, not just fast:
- Ownership in the Age of AI Authorship: When a model writes the code, who owns it? And what does ownership mean these days?
- Review Standards vs. Velocity: More code is shipping faster than ever. Are your review practices keeping up or becoming theater?
- Knowledge, Context, and the Disappearing "Why": AI is changing how intent gets captured and shared. How are engineering leaders keeping institutional knowledge alive?
- Engineering Leadership at the Product Boundary: AI is collapsing the distance between "we could build this" and "we should." How are engineering leaders steering product conversations on what needs to get built?
