Engineering Inclusive AI Algorithms

Jeremy King is Senior Vice President of Engineering at Pinterest, where he leads the company’s technical direction and oversees the entire Engineering team building deeply technical products, platforms and machine learning systems. Previously, he was the CTO of Walmart, where he led the digital transformation effort of the company including customer technology, merchant technology and supply chain technology that covered all Walmart U.S. stores and eCommerce. Prior to that, King was Executive Vice President of technology at LiveOps, and Vice President of engineering and software development at eBay. He holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology from San Jose State University, and is an advisory board member for the CTO Forum, an organization that brings together senior leaders across the technology industry to collaborate on key issues and accelerate innovation across organizations.

Pedro Silva is currently a Senior Machine Learning Engineer and the Inclusive AI Tech Lead at Pinterest, where his primary focus centers around the development and adoption of machine learning techniques that prioritize diversity, fairness, and equitability on Pinterest’s large scale search and recommendation systems. This work allows Pinterest to deliver personalized and meaningful experiences to the diverse user communities our platform serves across the globe. With an unwavering commitment to ethical AI development, Pedro is at the forefront of creating a more inclusive and equitable future through AI.

Prior to Pinterest Pedro has been passionate about bridging the gap between theory and practice for machine learning applications, with several papers and patents in fields such as Astronomy, Cybersecurity and Microchip design. He also holds a Ph.D. and a M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the Federal University of Piaui in Brazil.
