Influencing Skills: Your Superpower by Asif Makhani, Paula Judge, Li Fan, Chrystal Henke Ball

Li Fan is CTO at Lime, an innovative technology company that connect and empower urban living through mobility. Before Lime, Li is SVP of engineering in Pinterest, led all 600+ engineers to execute technology strategy and deliver company priorities (2016-2018) Li was a Senior Director of Engineering in Google Inc before Pinterest, accountable for Google’s popular image search (2014-2016). From 2012 to 2014, she’s Vice President of Engineer in Baidu, China.

Paula Judge joined Accel in 2018 to focus on Accel’s talent efforts.

Prior to Accel, Paula led Americas go-to-market recruiting efforts at Palo Alto Networks during a period of significant revenue and headcount growth. She joined Palo Alto Networks from Heidrick and Struggles, a retained executive search firm, where she conducted executive level searches for the technology practice.

She began her career in the non-profit sector, holding a number of fundraising and programmatic roles with San Francisco Ballet and the Toigo Foundation.

Paula grew up in Massachusetts and earned her degree in History from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Chrystal Henke-Ball is a VP of Engineering at SiriusXM Pandora. In this role, Chrystal leads the Content and Creator engineering organization which manages and serves streaming Content at scale and delivers groundbreaking access for Creators through modern tools and platforms.

Chrystal spent the first half of her career leading teams which built environmental management platforms for large tier clients in the environmental and sustainability sectors. She spends her time thinking about technology, people, and process. She is obsessed with purposeful architecture that can scale to meet demand, smart and simple processes which actively support growth and delivery, and mentoring teams to work effectively and openly together.

Asif has 20 years of engineering experience with a focus on search engines and online learning. Most recently, Asif was the head of Google Image Search. Prior to that, he was the Sr. Director of Engineering for Learning Solutions at LinkedIn, leading the Lynda.com online learning technology organization and launching LinkedIn Learning. Asif was the founding member and engineer of A9.com (a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon.com), creator and GM of Amazon CloudSearch, and the Head of Search at LinkedIn. Asif is passionate about search, online learning, scaling high performance organizations and developing leaders.
